Clinical Assistant Professor of Pathology
Dr. Nestor Dela Cruz earned his medical degree from Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation in Manila, Philippines. He subsequently had training in General Surgery at the Far Eastern Medical Center from July, 1983 to May 1988. He served as Assistant Professor / Consultant in General surgery at the same hospital from 1989 to 2002. He also served as Chairman of the department of Surgery at Pasay City General Hospital from 1992 to 2002. He and his family subsequently migrated to the US in May, 2002. He had training in Anatomic and Clinical pathology at Hahnemann University hospital from 2007 to 2011. He did Fellowship training in Blood Banking / Transfusion medicine at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, in Hershey, PA form July 2011 to June2012. In July 2012, he did his training in Surgical Pathology at LSU-HSC- Shreveport, subsequently he was appointed as Instructor in Pathology after his graduation from fellowship and later promoted to Assistant Professor in November of 2017. Dr. Dela Cruz is the faculty representative to the ENT tumor board. At present he assumes the role of Medical director in Surgical Pathology and CLIA Director in Anatomic Pathology of the LSU-HSC-Shreveport, department of pathology Dr. Dela Cruz is married to May Dela Cruz, who works as a Quality Assurance Coordinator at University of Texas- South Western university. They blessed with 3 children, Jan Franchesca (Pharmacist at CVS in Philadelphia), Mark Joshua 9presently doing his Fellowship I Cardiovascular Medicine in University of Chicago and Hannah Mae, who works as a manager in a public relations office in Las Vegas Nevada. His main interest is gastrointestinal and liver pathology, head and neck pathology and breast pathology.
