Dr. Ed Mahoney is the Department Head and Associate Professor of Physical Therapy and also serves as the Wound Management Residency Director. He obtained a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, a Master of Science in Physical Therapy and a BS degree in psychology from Sacred Heart University. Dr. Mahoney is also a Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association’s Education Leadership Institute. Dr. Mahoney’s teaching interests include advanced wound management, exercise physiology, cardiopulmonary physical therapy, electrophysiology, and gait analysis. His research interest focuses on wound prevention and management as well as physical therapy education. His work has been disseminated in various journals and textbooks and he has presented nationally and internationally in areas of his expertise. He is a Certified Wound Specialist® of the American Board of Wound Management® and also serves as the National Examination Committee Chair for the American Board of Wound Management.
