Dr. Wissing has over 45 years in health care with emphasis in allied health and respiratory therapy. He has held positions in management and education with 35 years in allied health education. He earned his PhD from LSU Baton Rouge in biology education along with a Master of Health Science from LSU Medical Center. He has over 500 invited lectureships to a wide variety of health care related groups, such as nursing, physicians, and respiratory care. Dr. Wissing has numerous scientific articles, chapters, and a textbook. He has taught graduate level nutrition and related courses for over 18 years in the School of Allied Health Professions along with earning a Certificate of Study in Adult Nutrition from the University of Seattle. He assisted with the implementation of a Physician Assistant Program and a Master of Public Health Program at LSU Health Shreveport. In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Wissing is involved in a number of professional organizations, such as the National Asthma Educator Certification Board, American Lung Association and The American Association for Respiratory Care, at the state and national level. He is currently a Professor of Public Health. His current research interests include childhood obesity and the influence of early eating patterns.
