The LSU Health Shreveport Department of Pediatrics is committed to high quality care and progressive resident development in clinical and research skills in an environment that challenges students, residents, and faculty alike, while providing maximum opportunity for development.  Our faculty includes 14 full-time and 7 part-time General Pediatricians and 21 full-time subspecialists, including Allergy/Immunology, Cardiology, Child Abuse, Critical Care, Endocrinology, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine/Pediatrics, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Pulmonology, and Rheumatology. Within our group of instructors, we have 3 PhDs and 2 non-MDs, as well as Pediatric specialists in ENT, Neurosurgery, OMFS, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Surgery -including Burn Surgery and Trauma/SICU, and Urology.  The University’s primary teaching hospital, Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, serves as a tertiary care referral center and regional trauma center for North Louisiana, East Texas and South Arkansas.  The Department also works closely with the local Shiners Hospital for Children. Overall, the combined facilities provide extensive experience in outpatient and inpatient care, including well-child care, acute care, and pediatric subspecialty care.

Pediatric Grand Rounds

The Department of Pediatrics hosts Grand Rounds every Thursday morning* from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in Room 3-322 of the medical school beginning in August and ending in mid-June of the academic year. Grand Rounds is free and open to area physicians and available for one hour of level 1 CME credit who attend.
 *Some dates and times may change for Special Grand Rounds.
