Academic Affairs

The Office of Academic Affairs works with faculty and students to develop academic policies, provide student learning resources, and facilitate faculty development. The Faculty Promotion and Tenure Committee are also coordinated by this office. This office is charged with maintaining Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accreditation for the School of Allied Health Professions.

Curricula

The degree programs in the School of Allied Health Professions represent a blend of basic, clinical and social sciences. All degree programs are structured to present the basic principles, concepts and philosophies of the field of specialization, yet are flexible to allow for individual student capabilities and interests. The general goal of the school is to provide the student with the educational opportunities to develop as a professionally competent health practitioner and teacher. To the extent possible, common learning experiences will be provided for all students registered in the School of Health Professions with students in the other professional schools at LSU Health Shreveport. It is anticipated that such an approach will improve the eventual working relationships within the health field as well as the delivery of health services.

Alpha Eta Honor Society

The Alpha Eta Society is a national scholastic honor society that serves to promote and recognize significant scholarship, leadership, and contributions to the Allied Health Professions. Inductees include the top 10% percent of students in each academic program.
