Pediatric Residency

Our program is focused on producing compassionate and scholarly graduates who become leaders in their chosen fields and their communities. We strive to instill in each resident the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to become excellent physicians either in the practice of primary care or sub-specialty medicine.

Our training focuses on three main aspects:
• Providing EDUCATION in a safe learning environment where resident opinions and decisions are valued.
• Preparing residents as ADVOCATES for children, young adults, and families within their regional and national communities.
• Supporting PHYSICIAN WELLNESS by mindfully taking care of our residents’ needs and promoting their personal health and well-being.

Our 3-year program is a small to medium size program that takes 8 categorical residents per year for a total of 24 pediatric residents. We also offer a combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency program and fellowship training in Allergy/Immunology at our facility. We are fully accredited by the Pediatric Residency Review Committee of the ACGME (Accreditation Council for the Graduate Medical Education). We strive to offer the very best in pediatric training.  We have a great group of residents who work well together and view each other as family.  Our superb, easily approachable faculty see teaching and patient care as their fundamental purposes and are always available to the house staff.  Education is of the utmost priority, and we have didactic teaching conferences and/or morning report daily.  Every first year resident is provided with a Pediatric MedStudy Board Review Curriculum.  There are also many opportunities for the residents to teach house officers and medical students.

Our Children’s Hospital
23 General Pediatric  &  8 PICU beds

We also run a busy newborn nursery in addition to a 40 bed NICU.  We are part of a Level 1 trauma center and our ambulatory care clinic has over 30,000 outpatient visits per year. We welcome you and invite you to discover the quality training in a family atmosphere offered by our program!
