The LSU Health Shreveport Division of Cardiovascular Disease emphasizes excellence in patient care, post-graduate teaching, and medical research. We are dedicated to the prevention, detection, treatment, and understanding of cardiovascular conditions such as coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, heart failure, valvular heart disease and peripheral artery disease. We aim to excel in graduate medical education with a curriculum that strengthens the patient/doctor relationship, facilitates evidence based clinical reasoning, cultivates diversity, and foster professionalism. Fellowship programs offers training in General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. More than one hundred and ten fellows have graduated from our fellowship programs since 1987. We promote multi-disciplinary, collaborative clinical care and research efforts in cardiovascular disease. The DCI Clinic is home to a number of cardiovascular clinics, including the General Cardiology clinic, Interventional Cardiology clinic, Heart Failure clinic, Arrhythmia and Device clinic, Pregnancy and Heart Disease clinic, and cardiothoracic surgery clinics with highly specialized physicians who are experts in the specific cardiovascular conditions. The Center for Cardiovascular Disease and Sciences provides opportunity and resource for translational research.
