History

In the 1990's Dr. John C. McDonald, then Chairman of the Department of Surgery, saw the need for a state-of-the-art Vascular Surgery Division. He also realized the importance of the non-invasive laboratory in the proper diagnosis of vascular disease and the post intervention follow up of the vascular patient. In 1998, the Department of Surgery Non-invasive Vascular Lab began operating full time. Since then there have been more than 20,000 non-invasive exams performed in the vascular lab.

Dr. Benjamin Li, current Chairman of the Department of Surgery, continues the support of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. Under his leadership, plans are underway to expand the division to create a Vascular Disease Institute at our campus. This will, once again, include support for the non-invasive laboratory.
