Laboratory News

Dr. Orr was recently named Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Diseases and Sciences at LSU Health Shreveport. In addition, Dr. Orr was elected to the North American Vascular Biology Organization (NAVBO) Council and was appointed to both the ATVB Leadership Committee and the Vascular Cell and Molecular Biology Study Section within the NIH Center for Scientific Review.

The Orr lab was awarded an NIH R01 grant renewal in December 2016 to continue their work on the role of endothelial cell integrin signaling in atherosclerotic plaque formation. We are currently recruiting Post-doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students to work on this project.

Alexandra Finney, a Graduate Student in Cell Biology and Anatomy, received a Pre-doctoral Fellowship from the American Heart Association. Alexandra’s work seeks to identify how the neuronal guidance molecule EphA2 contributes to smooth muscle function in the atherosclerotic plaque.

The Orr lab was awarded an NIH R01 award in July 2016 to study the role of Nck adaptor protein signaling in endothelial cell activation during atherosclerotic plaque development. We are currently recruiting Post-doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students to work on this project.
