Dr. Weinberger is a surgeon-scientist He is board-certified in Otolaryngology / Head & Neck Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is sub-specialty fellowship trained in Laryngology and Airway Reconstruction. Dr. Weinberger is the director of the LSUHSCS Center for Voice, Airway, and Swallowing. He has authored over 60 articles and chapters in the medical literature, and has 1 US Patent awarded and 4 patents pending. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including the 2006 Fanconi Award from the American Head and Neck Society, and the AMA Foundation National Leadership Award in 2007 from the American Medical Association. His research program is focused on developing novel therapies for anaplastic thyroid cancer. He is nationally recognized clinically as a leader in the field of Airway Reconstruction including revision and complex open airway procedures. His clinical interests and expertise include tracheal stenosis, idiopathic subglottic stenosis, adult recurrent respiratory papillomatosis, tracheal malignancy, care of the professional voice, dysphagia, esophageal stricture and webs, and in-office surgery.
