Application Process

LSU Health Shreveport Department of Internal Medicine interview dates are October through January each year.

All applications are accepted only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Applications must include the following in order to be considered complete:

  • Application form
  • Three or more letters of recommendation
  • Dean’s letter (MSPE)
  • Medical school transcript
  • USMLE transcript-Step I & II(If available) 
    • Please note, we now require applicants to have passed both the clinical knowledge and clinical skills sections of Step 2 by February 15th in order to be ranked by our program.

Invitations for personal interviews are issued only after the applicant’s file is completed and reviewed by members of the Internship Selection Committee.  If there are specific faculty members you would like to meet or programs about which you would like to learn more, please let us know and we will do everything possible to accommodate your requests.

International Medical Graduates: International Medical Graduates must have ECFMG certification and a completed ERAS file. If accepted LSUHSC- Shreveport only sponsors J-1 visa.  We prefer for candidates to have prior US clinical Experience.
