He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy (1996), a Master of Physical Therapy (2003) and Doctorate in Physical Therapy (2008) from Louisiana State Health Sciences in Shreveport.

Clinical Specialty
Dr. McCallon received his initial board certification in wound management from the American Board of Wound Management in 2001 and was recertified in 2011. He has a special interest in treatment of pressure ulcers, traumatic injuries and venous leg ulcers.

Research Interests
Research interest include negative pressure wound therapy, enzymatic debridement and methods for prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers.

She received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from LSUHSC-Shreveport in 2010. She is licensed to practice Physical Therapy in the state of Louisiana. Her professional clinical practice is in the inpatient acute care setting and her academic role as the Director of Clinical Education coordinates all externships and internships for Physical Therapy students. She is a member of the APTA/LPTA and an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor.

Her teaching interests include all things related to clinical education and professional development, as well as acute care/ICU topics within Selected Medical Conditions.

She received a Doctor of Health Science in Geriatric Physical Therapy (1999), Master of Education (1999), Certificate of Physical Therapy UT Southwestern (1973) and Bachelors of Science from University of Southwestern Louisiana (1971). She is licensed to practice Physical Therapy in the state of Louisiana. Academic training and professional experiences are in the areas of geriatrics with a focus on balance and falls, and chronic disease; rheumatologic diseases and muscular dystrophy.

Clinical Specialty/Advanced Certifications
Her teaching interests include Geriatric Education, use of Modalities & Mechanical Modes, Rehabilitation in Chronic Disease and interdisciplinary education. She is a Geriatric Certified Specialist certified by the Physical Therapy Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She sees geriatric patients with aging issues, falls and balance problems, aging foot issues and rheumatologic and degenerative diseases.

Research Interests
Her research interests are in the field of falls and balance in community dwelling older persons; and individuals with Scleroderma.

Currie, Stephanie

Stephanie Currie, M.S., CCC-SLP

Education and Post-Graduate Training
She received a Bachelor of Science Degree (1990) in Speech Pathology and Audiology and a Master of Science degree (1992) in Speech-Language Pathology from West Virginia University. She is fully licensed to practice speech-language pathology in the state of Louisiana and is licensed through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She has had extensive experience with the following pediatric delays and disorders: receptive and expressive language, articulation and phonological processing, fluency, and oral-sensorimotor weakness and awareness. She has also had extensive experience treating adults with aphasia, dysarthria, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s Disease, voice, and fluency disorders. She is a LSVT LOUD Certified Clinician.

Teaching Interests
Her teaching interests include a variety of pediatric and adult speech and language disorders.

Education and Training
Dianna graduated with honors from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Disorders in 2014. While at LSU she worked with children with speech-language learning and social challenges along side expert Dynamic Therapy Specialists. While receiving academic training she attended the Musgatova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration- MNRI Program to gain knowledge and skill in dynamic and postural reflex pattern integration. She went on to receive her Master’s in speech-language pathology from LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport in 2016. She received scholarships at LSUHSC for the 2016 outstanding student as well as the 2015 Boomer award for clinical innovation and creativity. She has experience in a variety of settings with both pediatric and adult clients. Her clinical experiences include work at the Willis Knighton Rehab Center, Curtis Elementary, Shriners Hospital for Children, and the Allied Health Faculty Clinic. She is currently completing her clinical fellowship year under the leadership of Stephanie Currie, M.S., CCC-SLP.

Clinical and Research Interests
She is interested in increasing her knowledge and experience in diagnosis and treatment in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorders, fluency, cognitive disorders, receptive/expressive and pragmatic language, cleft palate, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), articulation and voice.

Dianna enjoys collaborating with fellow clinicians and families in order to help every child reach his or her maximum potential.

Sharon graduated in 1987 with a BS in Physical Therapy from LSUHSC in Shreveport. She completed a Masters of Health Sciences degree in 1996 and in 2006 she earned a PhD in Cellular Biology and Anatomy.

Clinical Specialty/Advanced Certifications
Sharon’s teaching interests include professional responsibility, advocacy, biomechanics and orthopaedic physical therapy. Sharon achieved ABPTS Certification in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy in 1996, was recertified in 2006 and 2016, and she utilizes this content expertise in her teaching, research and clinical practice.

Research Interests
Her research interests are in the fields of orthopaedic physical therapy, namely conservative approaches to ACL injury, tissue loading to optimize cellular and molecular outcomes, and mechanotransduction as the scientific underpinning of the therapeutic interventions of physical therapists.

Service
Sharon’s service to her professional organization began when she was a student and has continued to evolve throughout her career. She has served as the State Government Affairs Chair, Louisiana Chapter President and Vice President, and Chapter Delegate. She most recently was elected as President of the APTA after having served as the Vice President and on the Board of Directors. Her passions are advocacy, member engagement, and our profession’s potential to add great value to a disrupted health delivery system.

He received a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (2012) from LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport, and a B. S. in Biology (2009) from Louisiana Tech University. He completed an Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency at LSUHSC-S, and is certified as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He is fully licensed to practice physical therapy in the state of Louisiana. He treats upper and lower extremity, and spine injuries.

Teaching Interests
His teaching interests include Musculoskeletal Disorders, Clinical Orthopaedics, Therapeutic Exercise, and introductory clinical skills. He also serves as the Program Director for the Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program.

Research Interests
His research interests are in the fields of lower extremity injuries, with a focus on ACL and other knee injuries. Current study focuses on the risks of ACL injuries between siblings.

Danieles, Julie

Julie Ann Harris, PT, DPT, OCS

She received a Bachelor’s of Science degree (2003) from Centenary College and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (2007) from Loma Linda University California. She completed her post-graduate orthopaedic residency program at Rancho Physical Therapy in 2009. She is fully licensed to practice physical therapy in the state of Louisiana. During her academic training and professional experiences, she received extensive training with manual therapy, post-surgical rehabilitation, sports rehabilitation, vertigo, and cervicogenic headache.

Clinical Specialty/Advanced Certifications
Her teaching interests include orthopaedic and manual therapy evaluation. She is certified as an orthopaedic specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She is also certified in Functional Dry Needling completing Level I and II courses.

Research Interests
Her research interests are in the fields of manual therapy and orthopaedic disorders. She also has interest in research with dry needling and the effects of pain control, dry needling and effects of motor control and coordination, and the benefits and value of mentorship in a PT residency program.

Dr. Mahoney received her Bachelor’s degree in 2000 from Baylor University and her Masters and Doctorate degrees in Physical Therapy from Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport in 2003 and 2011, respectively.

Clinical Specialty/Advanced Certifications
She maintains a full-time clinical practice in orthopedics, women’s health and Pilates while working closely with the Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency Program. She is an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association and is a Certified Pilates Instructor through the Pilates Method Alliance.

Research Interests
Dr. Mahoney is interested in the role of physical therapy in issues related to women’s health including incontinence, pelvic dysfunction, and osteoporosis.

He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (2000) and Master of Science in Physical Therapy (2002) from Sacred Heart University and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center – Shreveport. Dr. Mahoney is also a Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association Education Leadership Institute.

Clinical Specialty/Advanced Certifications
Dr. Mahoney has nearly 15 years of experience in wound management. He is a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS®) through the American Board of Wound Management and serves as the National Examination Committee Chair for this organization.

Research and Teaching Interests
His research areas of interest focus on wound management, with a particular emphasis on diabetic foot issues as well as physical therapy education. He serves as the Director of the Wound Management Residency, which is the first of its kind in the country for physical therapists. In addition to wound management, Dr. Mahoney teaches the exercise physiology, cardiopulmonary, electrophysiology and gait analysis courses in the curriculum.


Merendino, Diana

Diana is fully licensed to practice physical therapy and respiratory therapy in the state of Louisiana.

Teaching Interests
Her teaching interests include Anatomy and Physiology of the cardiopulmonary systems, cardiopulmonary pathophysiology and pharmacologic therapeutics and acute care patient care for the respiratory therapist and physical therapist.

Research Interests
Research interest is in the field of cardiopulmonary disease and rehabilitation of individuals with underlying cardiopulmonary disease.

She also holds a Neurologic Certified Specialist (2015) designation from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She is fully licensed to practice physical therapy in the state of Louisiana. She specializes in the neurorehabilitation of Spinal Cord Injury, Brain Injury, Stroke, and Progressive Neurologic Diseases.

Teaching Interests
Her teaching interests include Neuroscience and Exercise Physiology with an emphasis on Therapeutic Exercise for Neurorehabilitation. She serves as an American Physical Therapy Association Certified Clinical Instructor for physical therapy students at all levels. In addition, she serves as the Residency Coordinator for the LSUHSC-Shreveport Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency Program and as a clinical mentor for the program’s resident physical therapists.

Research Interests
Her research interests are in the field of neurologic physical therapy, specifically exercise prescription for neurorehabilitation, conservative management of spasticity, and rehabilitation psychology.

Dr. Suzanne L. Tinsley received her Associate of Science degree from Panola College 1982 and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Texas Woman’s University in 1984. She graduated from the Texas Woman’s University Physical Therapy program with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 1986. She earned her Doctorate of Philosophy in Neuropharmacology from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in 1999.

Clinical Specialty/Advanced Certifications
Dr. Tinsley received her Board Certification in Neurologic Physical Therapy in 2010. She has been on faculty at LSUHSCE since 1988. Dr. Tinsley’s areas of expertise include motor control, rehabilitation and pharmacology.

Research Interests
Dr. Tinsley maintains an active clinical practice through the LSUHSC Faculty Practice Clinic where her energy is directed toward improving the quality of life for the patients with chronic debilitating neurological diseases. Her research interest includes all of these areas including neurological and geriatric rehabilitation.

Service
She is actively involved in both the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and Louisiana Physical Therapy Association (LPTA). She is currently the Chair of the LPTA Research Committee and has served as Chair of the APTA Stroke Special Interest group. She currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Louisiana Coalition for Assessable and Sustainable Healthcare. In 2007, she was appointed to the Louisiana Commission on Men’s Health and Wellness being only one of two women appointed to serve on this commission. She also served on the Louisiana Stroke Task Force appointed by Governor Blanco.

Dr. Vazquez Morgan earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Therapy in 1993, a Masters in Health Sciences in 1997 from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and her Academic Doctorate in Health Studies from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas in 2006. She has 23 years of clinical rehabilitation experience and has been a faculty member at LSU Health in Shreveport, School of Allied Health Professions since 1997. She was featured in 2005 and 2008 in National Newsline Magazine for PT speaking on the role of cultural diversity in the physical therapy profession, and was honored in November 2006 by Maybelline NY as outstanding female educator of the year, as well as featured in People Magazine in December 2006. She was also the 2014 recipient of the Allen A Copping Teaching Award, and the American Physical Therapy Association Minority Faculty Development National Scholarship in 2003.

Her teaching interests include Differential Diagnosis, Neuroscience, and Wellness and lifestyle modification.

Research Interests
Her research interests include wellness and nutrition, occupation health, and neurorehabilitation with patients with spinal cord injury.
