Qualification Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicant must meet one of the following qualifications:

  1. Master’s Degree from an accredited university in business or science with one (1) year of clinical trials experience in an academic or healthcare setting.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in business or science with three (3) years of clinical trials experience in an academic or healthcare setting.

 Desired:

  • Master’s Degree in research or business administration.
  • Knowledge of clinical and translational research
  • Knowledge of regulations and ethical principles regarding clinical research.
  • Understanding of research procedures, research terminology, and research data management.
  • Familiarity with implementation of protocol processes
  • Sufficient knowledge of computer use and applications including word processing programs, spreadsheets and electronic submission systems, and/or databases used to maintain all information pertinent to human research protections.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position requires experience with regulatory agencies and institutional review boards (IRBs) as well as having excellent customer service skills.  LSU Health Sciences Center – Shreveport’s IRB is charged with ensuring that all aspects of LSUHSC-S Human Research Protection Program comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies, including standards of excellence necessary for maintaining accreditation status.  This position, which is core to LSUHSC-S research compliance activities, focuses primarily on medical research.

Under the direction of the IRB Chair and Vice Chair, the IRB Director conducts in-depth protocol review using advanced regulatory knowledge and experience.  S/he has the primary responsibility to manage the protocol review process and identify issues, and to independently determine whether the components of the proposed research are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations, university policies, and accreditation standards.  This position is responsible for overseeing the full board submissions for HRPP and IRB committee processes.  S/he is also responsible for assisting with maintenance of AAHRPP Accreditation, and will be the liaison for external regulatory agencies.  Other duties include educating parties on relevant and emerging regulations and identifying related risk management issues.
