The Department of Surgery at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center at Shreveport seeks applicants for a foregut/minimally invasive/bariatric/general surgeon.  Must be BC/BE in General Surgery and eligible for active Louisiana Medical Licensure.  This position will include a focus on general and minimally invasive surgery to include esophageal and foregut surgery. The position will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level and the candidate must have completed a minimally invasive and foregut/esophageal surgery fellowship program.

The successful candidate will need to have a strong commitment to an active teaching program, participation in research and scholarly activities, and clinical experience.  Resources for basic and clinical research are available, with opportunities for collaborative clinical and basic science projects.


  • Board Eligible or Certified in General Surgery
  • Successful completion of a Minimally Invasive and Foregut/Esophageal Surgery Fellowship
  • Strong Academic Experience in basic science, translational or health services research
  • History of funding or Extramural funding is strongly desired
  • Eligible for State of Louisiana medical licensure
  • Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience
