Minimum requirements: Accredited master’s degree or higher in library/information science, or other relevant graduate degree with demonstrated familiarity with health information resources. Sufficient knowledge, through either academic coursework or on-the-job training, of quantitative concepts to explain them to others. Curiosity and ability to learn new/unfamiliar software to enhance the productivity of learners and faculty. Preferred: Experience with statistical software (SPSS, Graph Pad Prism, or other packages). Understanding of the research life cycle. Experience locating epidemiological and statistical data for health care decision-making. Experience with projects where stakeholders may not be librarians. Experience with a learning management system, and with survey software, such as LimeSurvey or REDCap. Experience with bibliographic citation management programs, like EndNote.

Job summary: This library faculty member teaches and answers reference questions, for all 3 schools and residency programs, with a focus on epidemiology and information needed for evidence-based practice. Develops resources to enhance the ability of faculty and learners to conduct research, and properly locate and evaluate existing health care literature.

Responsibilities:
• Work with other faculty to teach the biostatistics module in the MD curriculum
• Develop and lead classes (or online tutorials) on statistical and survey software available in the library, or from other relevant sources
• Provide expert answers and assistance to the campus on projects including, but not limited to:
o Systematic reviews or projects synthesizing the existing research literature
o General good practices in managing data
o Locating epidemiology data for health care decision-making
o Connecting faculty and learners to appropriate and reputable outlets for publishing their work
o Advising on the preparation of manuscripts/posters
o Attending house staff conferences or learning events
• Work with all library faculty to answer reference questions and teach in the overall educational program of the library
• May make presentations to students involved in summer research programs
• May serve as liaison, connecting one or more departments/programs to library sources and services, as assigned by library administration
• May represent the library to relevant statewide research initiatives
