Minimum Qualifications:


Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. within the last two years in a biomedical science field.  Candidates with a background in microvascular or ocular physiology/pathology are particularly encouraged to apply.  English competency is required.

Job Summary:

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Norman R. Harris in the Department of Molecular & Cellular Physiology at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Harris lab is funded by the National Institutes of Health to study the microcirculatory changes occurring in diabetic retinopathy; additional areas of microvascular pathologies are also investigated. Several techniques performed in the lab include small animal surgery, intravital microscopy, electroretinography, immunostaining of retinal tissue, and Western blotting of tissue and plasma. Applicants with previous experience in one or more of these techniques will be given preference, although training can be provided. The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to interact with members of the LSU Center for Cardiovascular Diseases and Sciences (CCDS), and will be given the opportunity to develop manuscript and grant writing skills.
