Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in a biomedical science field. Candidates with a background in biochemistry or molecular biology are particularly encouraged to apply. English competency is required.

Job Summary:

A postdoctoral position in synthetic biology is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Eric First in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. The selected candidate will conduct research aimed at re-engineering the mRNA translation machinery to use D-amino acids. Applicants with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology and strong laboratory skills in molecular biology, protein purification, and enzyme kinetics are preferred. Experience in protein crystallography is desirable but not required.
