Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. or M.D. in Microbiology and Immunology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Oncology or related field. Strong background in cancer immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, mouse genetics and have published in internationally recognized journals. Expertise in cancer genetics and immunology is a plus.


Job Summary:

The Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the LSU-Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and Feist- Weller Cancer Center has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. Our lab focuses on a number of projects related to cancer biology with a focus on skin carcinogenesis and viral oncogenesis in head & neck cancer. Currently, there are several projects ongoing in the laboratory including: 1) deciphering the role of Fibroblast growth factor receptor in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma 2) Understanding the role of PIK3CA mutations in modulating radiosensitization in HPV(+) Head and Neck cancers.

Must be highly motivated and have advanced knowledge and capability to exercise independent judgment when carrying out research activities and performing non-routine and complex laboratory projects. Ability to perform basic cell and molecular biology techniques such as cell culture of immortalized, cancer and normal cells; preparation of normal cells from animal tissues; analysis of immune cells by FACS; functional assays for immune cells; DNA and RNA extraction; PCR, RT-PCR; survival in vitro assays; viability assay; western blotting. Ability to handle small animals including tail tipping for genotyping. Ability to inoculate tumor cells into mice in the form of subcutaneous inoculation. Ability to extract immune cells and prepare them for analysis and/or further assays.

Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with knowledge of statistical software. Knowledge of array analysis software preferred. Experience in immunohistochemically staining preferred. Experience with microarray data analysis preferred.
