Postdoctoral Fellow - Microbiology and Immunology

Position Number: PSN 23851
Salary Range: Negotiable
Location: LSU Health, Shreveport
Posting closes: Open Until Filled

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. within the last 0-2 years in cell biology, biochemistry, immunology, or related disciplines with first author publications is required.  Candidates with a background in vascular biology or macrophage biology are particularly encouraged to apply.  English competency is required.

Job Summary:

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is immediately available in the Woolard laboratory studying the interaction of intracellular lipid metabolism and macrophage inflammatory responses that contribute to atherosclerotic plaque formation.  The Woolard lab, located in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport, has a long-standing interest in how lipid synthesis regulates macrophage responses.  The Post-doctoral Fellow will join an NIH funded project examining how modified low-density lipoproteins-elicited glycerolipid synthesis influence macrophages inflammatory responses that promote atherosclerosis. In association with the LSU Center for Cardiovascular Diseases and Sciences (CCDS), the fellow will be exposed to extensive training and networking opportunities in immunology, vascular biology, career development workshops through the local Post-Doctoral Association, and opportunities for intramural fellowships through the CCDS.
