Accrual of sick and annual leave varies by classification and length of service.

Other leave available to employees includes:

Crisis Leave: Employees who cannot work due to a crisis situation may receive assistance if they have insufficient paid leave to cover the absence needed for the crisis situation. Certain restrictions apply but those who qualify may receive assistance.

Educational Leave: Full-time staff members who have been employed for at least one year and have approval from their department head/supervisor may register for job related undergraduate or graduate courses at any LSU system campus.  Full tuition exemption is given up to six hours per semester.  Three hours of study can be taken during work time without a reduction in pay, a charge to annual leave credits, or loss of full-time status. 

Family & Medical Leave (FMLA): Employees working more than 1,250 hours and 12 months are eligible for up to 12 weeks of leave for a serious health condition or serious health condition of a family member.  

Special Leave is also available to employees who have been deployed for military purposes, require Leave of Absence, civic leave, bereavement leave, etc.
