Trauma Transfer Center

• What is LSUSTAT?  It is a 24/7 call center which will facilitate interhospital patient transfers – specifically ER --> ER and inpatient area --> inpatient area transfers.

• Why do we need LSUSTAT?   It can often be challenging to get patients transferred into tertiary medical centers like ours.  It sometimes takes many phone calls and can be frustrating for referring physicians and their patients. LSUSTAT will provide callers with one call access – taking care of getting an accepting physician, bed assignment and financial clearance if indicated.

• Who will be staffing LSUSTAT?  Specially trained nursing coordinators known as transfer expediters. They will work with attending and resident physicians, Admitting staff, house supervisors, case management experts and others to help ensure a smooth referral and transfer experience.

• Where is LSUSTAT based?  It is located in Room 10 of the Emergency Care Center (ER).
