Institutional BioSafety Committee
The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) is responsible for reviewing, approving, and overseeing all projects performed at LSUHSC which involve biological materials that are a potential hazard to investigators or research subjects. The PI is responsible for renewing their Biosafety protocol each year by submitting an annual update. Committee review and approval of annual updates is done annually.
2012-2013 Institutional Biosafety Committee Roster
The IBC meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month. If there are no new protocols or revisions to be reviewed, an email meeting will take place.

NIH Membership Compliance
LSUHSC-S IBC is a registered member of the National Institutes of Health Office of Biotechnology Activities (NIH OBA). The IBC is responsible for providing an annual report to OBA for compliance purposes. The current approval date is December 20, 2012. |
IBC Submissions & Forms:
Please complete and return all forms (except the Chemical Hygiene Plan) to Brandi R. Nunnery in the Office for Sponsored Programs and Tech Transfer in room 1-214 of the Medical School. All submissions are due by the first Tuesday of the month at noon. Please see the 2012 Assurance Committee Calendar above for all Assurance Committee deadlines and meeting dates.

IBC Annual Update Form
Annual Updates are due each year for all active protocols. A biological inventory is required to be submitted with the annual update each year. Reminder emails with the form are sent to the PI’s and Business Managers 30 days prior to their assigned month’s due date.

Add/Change Active Protocol
If you need to add or make a change to your active protocol, please submit a memo to OSPTT stating the changes.
Withdraw/Termination
If you need to withdraw your protocol or terminate your active protocol, please submit a memo to OSPTT requesting the withdrawal or termination.
