This conference has been held since 2009 with guest faculty both years whom are nationally recognized in the field of Bioethics. Although sponsored by the Pediatric Department, this conference presents topics from all disciplines of medicine, not necessarily or even pediatric topics. Bioethics draws on the life sciences, biotechnology, medicine, politics, law and philosophy to formulate moral answers to the questions "What is the right or good thing to do in a particular situation?" and "What are our obligations to help one another?" Past topics have been care of the seriously ill and dying, ethical growth and development, and the function of ethics committees.
The conference is held in the fall/early winter on a weekend morning and provides 4 hours of ethics CME/CEU credit for physicians, nurses, social workers, and licensed professional counselors.
