LSUHSC-Shreveport is a state-of-the-art Level-1 Trauma Center with approximately 430 beds, a 26-bed Surgical ICU, Neuro ICU, Medical ICU, Neonatal ICU, Burn Unit, 20 Operating Room suites, da Vinci Robotic Surgery System, Children’s Hospital, and 24-hour Emergency Room with 2 trauma bays, Fast Track, Pediatric Emergency Room, and Transfer Center.
The medical center also serves as a charity hospital for all of North Louisiana and is a referral center for indigent care for more than one million people. This creates a unique educational environment allowing residents to see patients in an outpatient setting for evaluation of surgical procedures. Clinic space includes LSUHSC-Shreveport and private hospital facilities. A total of three LSUHSC-Affiliated Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery clinics are located throughout Northern Louisiana.

Presently, there are roughly 10,000 patient visits and 5,000 procedures performed annually in the outpatient Ambulatory Care Clinic, which is staffed by Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery attendings, allowing residents to make decisions regarding surgical indications of patients. The facility includes 6 operatories, a minor procedure suite, clinical laboratory, photography room, 2 triage assessment areas, resident conference room, and radiology room equipped with iCAT ConeBeam CT.

Willis-Knighton South Physician Center

The South center has an emergency room with 24-hour coverage, a 12-bed surgical ICU, and a spacious newly designed Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery clinic. The faculty practice is located here along with the various OMFS specialty clinics. There are roughly 1,000 patient visits per month with over 3,000 procedures performed annually. The facility is located less than three miles from the primary teaching facility and is equipped with several minor surgical suites as well as iCAT Cone-Beam CT.

The first hospital in the Shriners health care system, Shriners Hospitals for
Children — Shreveport combines a child-friendly environment with
world-class medical care. Colorful treatment rooms, a
spacious outdoor playground, and a wide range of rehabilitation
activities give kids confidence and build life skills. Patients from Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma are evaluated and treated by the OMFS cleft & craniofacial team for a variety of cleft and/or craniofacial abnormalities.
