Resident Research
All Residents in the Obstetrics and
Gynecology training program are required to participate in a research
project under the supervision of a chosen faculty member. These projects
are presented at the PGY- 3 level at the Resident Research Forum held
annually in June. First, second and third place prizes are awarded.
Over the years, our residents have
presented their research papers at national scientific meetings, many of
which have won awards and gone on to be published in peer-review
journals.
Other research opportunities are
available through individual Faculty for residents who have a special
interest or research background.
The Biomedical Research Institute,
located on the LSU Health Sciences Center campus in Shreveport, is a
business-oriented research facility, combining traditional academic
research and private-sector initiatives for the development and
commercialization of new discoveries. The research institution is owned
by the Biomedical Research Foundation, and fosters increased cooperative
research with local and national industries.
