Eight area high school students wrapped up their three week session at LSU Health Shreveport June 22. Sponsored by the North Louisiana Area Health Education Center (AHEC), the AHEC of a Summer Program is an opportunity for students to explore career opportunities by volunteering at LSU Health Shreveport for 15 days.

Students observed staff across the campus, including in the Burn Center, Partners in Wellness, interventional radiology and the Bone Marrow Lab. An awards ceremony was held, during which one student commented that the program "helped me realize that this is my home. I am supposed to be in the medical field."
