In the News: SAVE Program

The month of April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In observance, the newly formed SAVE (Sexual Assault and Violence Education) Program at LSU Health Shreveport held an educational lunch for medical students and staff April 17. Kathleen Marceaux, a sexual assault educator, from the Providence House, served as the guest speaker.

KTAL 6 reported on the lunch, which taught students the effects of sexual assault and how to treat victims of sexual assault as physicians.

The Office on Violence Against Women at the Department of Justice recently awarded LSU Heath Shreveport a $300,000 grant to implement SAVE. The funding comes from the Grants to Reduce Domestic Violence, Dating Violence Sexual Assault and Stalking On Campus Program.
