Lisa Schrott, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Neuroscience, talked to the
Shreveport Times
about her lab's research on medical marijuana. Similar to how antidepressants are formulated, Dr. Schrott examines how we may be able to isolate certain components
of marijuana
to medicinally treat nausea and vomiting without the other negative side effects. Dr. Schrott presented research findings at the Society for Neuroscience annual meeting in Washington, DC in 2011 and hopes to publish a paper soon.
