The Department of Neurology at LSUHSC-Shreveport is committed to excellence in academics, patient care and clinical research. Residents who have completed the program have gone on to establish themselves in clinical practices or in fellowships at this and other institutions. In the past 5 years, 85% of our graduates have taken the specialty board examination with a 100% pass rate. Our medical students have given the first year course in neuroscience excellent reviews. The third-year clerkship student rotation has been expanded and improved in the last year to 2 full weeks of inpatient, hospital consult and outpatient neurology experience.

Our faculty clinicians are particularly interested in neurological education and give the resident "hands on" attention in the in-patient and ambulatory care setting. Faculty members also have busy clinical practices for, and are actively engaged in clinical research in, the areas of cerebrovascular disease, degenerative neurological diseases, epilepsy, headache, movement disorders, and multiple sclerosis and neuromuscular disorders.
