Let me begin by welcoming you to the Louisiana State University Internal Medicine Residency Program web site. I am proud of our "family" in Internal Medicine here at LSU and want to comment on my philosophy of education and my efforts to implement these plans here at the school. Education is our business. House officers at LSUHSC are given a chance to grow and mature in a structured environment. We have developed a formal teaching program and patient care experience which allows education to thrive in a busy clinical atmosphere.

We have a strong faculty, but our house officers play a great role in the care of our patients. I take great pride in the care and respect that we offer to our patients, be they young or old, rich or poor.

I know that every house officer has different career plans - we work to develop these plans with the house officer and help them continue their personal career path, whether it be in primary care or subspecialty medicine, to the best of our ability. We recognize that house officers can change our system and make it better. We encourage their input and prosper with their help.
