Minimum Qualifications:

Applicant must meet all the following:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, or other health related field with at least two (2) years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
  2. Clinical expertise of medical practices and the ability to interpret medical data and terminology.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication.
  4. Knowledge of Joint Commission of Healthcare Organizations, Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services and other regulatory bodies’ standards.
  5. Experience in working with computer programs; proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Job Summary:

Incumbent is responsible for assisting in the development of criteria, data collection, displaying of data, and reporting of results to the Quality Management Department and assigned Medical Staff Departments. The coordinator will work through an ongoing program to objectively and systematically monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of patient care provided at the institution. The monitoring will involve a complex method of assessing patient related activities; identifying potential and actual problem areas, and reporting results as appropriate. Work performed is in a complex Quality Management department of a large University teaching hospital. Incumbent must possess an extensive knowledge of Performance Improvement methodologies and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization’s standards, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and data entry skills, Incumbent must keep abreast of new developments in the field of medicine, participate in seminars, workshops, and other continuing medical education programs. The incumbent shall maintain a current knowledge of patient care standards, treatment modalities, legislative directive, federal regulations, etc. as related to the healthcare setting. The incumbent must have knowledge of research methodologies and mathematical computations for data collection and reporting.
