Department Head/Chairman, Biochemistry

A search for a new Chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport is underway. We are seeking a candidate of international stature (Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D.) interested in leading an outstanding basic science department, and contributing to the scientific direction of the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center (http://www.feistweiller.org ) or a proposed Center of Excellence in Cardiovascular Diseases and Sciences.

Chair in Department of Neurology

The LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport is searching for a Chair for our Department of Neurology. Preference is for a candidate with expertise in stroke, in order to also establish a regional stroke center. This individual must possess strong people skills and be prepared to fulfill his/her leadership potential to lead and grow an academic medical school department.

Inaugural holder of fully endowed Ike Muslow

In recognition of the importance of primary care and general internal medicine, LSU Health Shreveport has created its first endowed chair in General Internal medicine. We are seeking a dynamic academic general internist as the inaugural holder of the chair. The candidate should have a proven record of excellence in clinical practice and education and a strong interest in mentorship of students, trainees, and junior faculty. Health service research opportunities, particularly in the area of health literacy are available with an active and productive team. Particularly exciting are research opportunities involving our unique statewide integrated electronic information management system with fully functional electronic medical record system.

Assistant Professor, Clinical, Emergency Medicine

MD or equivalent with Louisiana state medical license or ability to obtain licensure. Graduate from an accredited residency program. Fellowship training highly desirable. BC/BE required.

Assistant Professor, Family Medicine

The specific duties and responsibilities for the position will be outlined during the interview process and detailed in the formal letter of offer. General duties include providing patient care; teaching residents and medical students; and, participating in research if position is on tenure-track. MD or equivalent with Louisiana state medical license or ability to obtain licensure. Graduate from an accredited residency program. Fellowship training highly desirable. BC/BE required.

Professor, Orthopaedic Surgery

The specific duties and responsibilities for the position will be outlined during the interview process and detailed in the formal letter of offer. General duties include independent research, as well as research training of orthopedic residents and interaction with the orthopedic faculty. Orthopedic subspecialty interest in trauma related research is preferred. Applicants should have a PhD and / or MD with relevant postgraduate experience.

Assistant Professor, Psychiatry

Assistant Professor, Neurology

The Department of Neurology at Louisiana State University-Health, Shreveport, Louisiana is seeking a BE/BC neurologist with fellowship training in Epilepsy/Clinical Neurophysiology to join its faculty. Academic rank will be determined by level of experience/ qualifications, though ABPN certification/sub-specialty certification is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to oversee and further develop the University Hospital’s epilepsy monitoring unit, aid in development of an epilepsy surgery program, manage a large volume of patients with epilepsy and work toward development of a clinical neurophysiology training program. He/she will also have a teaching role with neurology residents and students. The candidate will be expected to participate in all departmental activities including resident clinics and hospital attending call.

LSU Health Shreveport is a major tertiary referral center for North Louisiana, East Texas and Oklahoma and southern Arkansas. The Hospital is the only Level 1 trauma center in this area. The Medical School is fully accredited with training programs in all areas, including many sub-specialty fellowship programs. Faculty/Open Rank, Emergency Medicine

The Department of Emergency Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center - Shreveport maintains a fully accredited Residency Training Program in Emergency Medicine and a combined EM/FM Program. We are seeking full-time faculty to complete the complement of core faculty necessary to achieve excellence. LSUHSC is the tertiary referral center for the entire region with an annual selected volume of 60K and serves as the only Level I Trauma Center in the area. The department faculty is involved in all levels of graduate medical education and operates in a new, state-of-the-art, 54-bed facility. Clinical and basic science research opportunities are available for energetic applicants with residency training and ABMS board status. Rank and position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Assistant/Associate Professor, Anesthesiology

The Department of Anesthesiology at Louisiana State University Health Science Center - Shreveport is seeking applicants for full - time faculty Anesthesiologist positions specializing in: Ob/Gyn Anesthesiology, or Pain Management. These positions require a one year approved fellowship. Candidates must be board certified, or in the preocess of being certified, and qualified to receive appointment at assistant professor level or higher. Responsibilities will focus on clinical care and teaching of medical students and residents. Salary and academic rank commensurate with experience and training.
