Classification & Pay

The Classification and Pay section of Human Resources is commonly referred to as "Class & Pay". This group works closely with the Louisiana Department of Civil Service to ensure that classified job descriptions are maintained by title and grade; competitive, equitable salaries are based on work performance; and, that LSU Health Shreveport attracts and retains a competitive, diverse workforce.

The Classification and Pay office is the manager's link to the Louisiana Department of Civil Service information. Civil Service is implementing a new Performance Evaluation System (PES) to replace the Performance Planning and Review System (PPR).

Classified Position Descriptions (SF-3) is a statement of factual specific tasks to be performed, by describing the process, techniques and methods used in accomplishing the work. Changes in the organization, distribution of work assignment and responsibility may significantly alter the duties requiring a change in its allocation. It is the department’s responsibility to keep these position descriptions accurate and up to date, which is a benefit to both the department and the employee. Position descriptions should be updated at least every five (5) years.
