Jane Eggerstedt, MD / Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs / Vice Dean of Medical School

An Illinois native, Dr. Eggerstedt completed general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residencies at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill. She then took fellowships in pediatric cardiac surgery and pediatric cardiac pathology at Children’s Hospital in Boston. Afterward, Dr. Eggerstedt took another fellowship in pediatric cardiac surgery at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She worked as an associate in a group practice in Michigan before moving to Shreveport.  Dr. Jane Eggerstedt joined LSUHS in 1986 as the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery.  In her current roll as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Eggerstedt supervises major education accreditation activities for the medical school, standardized patients, and clinical/surgical skills programs.  

La'Tonyia Franklin, RN / Director of Surgical Skills (SPARTA)/ Coordinates all functions within SPARTA

La'Tonyia Franklin joined LSU Health Shreveport in the Center of Excellence for Arthritis and Rheumatology in 2000 after graduating from Centenary College of Louisiana.  She later became the Manager of a Medical Service Area in the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology, & Neuroscience in 2006.  Ms. Franklin was sought after to develop a clinical research laboratory at the VA Medical Center in Shreveport, LA.  After 11 years of research, Ms. Franklin changed career paths and obtained her RN degree from Southern University.  She worked for four years as a staff Med. Surg. nurse and charge nurse.  With experience in lab startups, research, managing, and nursing, her expertise allowed her to become the first Director of Surgical Skills at LSUHS School of Medicine.  In her current roll as Director, Ms. Franklin coordinates all aspects of the lab from contracts and invoicing to course bookings and cadaver procurements.

Lori Lemonnier, MD / Medical Director of Surgical Skills (SPARTA) / Assistant Professor-Otolaryngology

Dr. Lori Lemonnier provides specialized care with both medical and surgical intervention for a wide variety of sinonasal disorders including chronic sinus infections and skull base tumors.  She completed her fellowship in Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery at the University of Miami.  She received her Doctorate of Medicine with Distinction from Wayne State University School of Medicine, where she stayed to complete her residency in Otolaryngology.  Prior to joining LSUHSC, Dr. Lemonnier was a faculty member with the department of otolaryngology at Temple University in Philadelphia.
