The Clinical Skills Center (CSC) in the School of Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport plays a vital role in the clinical training and medical education of our students.  By serving as a connector between classroom learning and real-life clinical experience, the CSC helps students build confidence as they learn to interview, diagnose, and treat patients. The integration of Standardized Patients and simulation into the medical curriculum gives students a hands-on experience and the opportunity to practice and improve their skills in a controlled environment without compromising the safety of an actual patient. Our state of the art skills center incorporates four types of simulation:

The Clinical Skills Center is available to any department or program at LSU Health Shreveport. The staff is available to assist with selection, set-up, and training on any of the equipment.  Case-based scenarios or simulations can be developed and implemented to fit the needs of individual departments.  High fidelity simulation is applicable to a wide variety of disciplines including; surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, trauma, critical care, pediatrics, neonatology, and emergency medicine, to name a few. There are video and audio recording capabilities in all exam and simulation rooms. These recordings are saved and available for viewing, critiquing, or debriefing at your convenience.
