Facts You Should Know about the Patient Medication Program

  1. The purpose of the Patient Medication Program at LSU Health Sciences Center - E. A. Conway Medical Center is to Assist patients who are uninsured and unable to pay for all their medication.
  2. It will not provide 100% of your medication needs.
  3. It should be considered a temporary prescription assistance program and a supplement to your usual methods of obtaining your medication. While we work to ensure that delays are kept to a minimum, due to demand for this program, there will be delays from time to time.
  4. The pharmaceutical companies have established the eligibility criteria for the programs and we cannot change or modify their rules.  All of the pharmaceutical companies that provide this service reserve the right to discontinue of modify their programs at any time.

It is the goal of the LSU Health Sciences Center - E. A. Conway Medical Center to assist as many patients as possible with this temporary prescription assistance program. However, patients may be asked to assume responsibility of purchasing some or all of their own medication. You must ensure that you have a plan to continue your medication when either your medication is no longer available or there are delays in obtaining your medication.

Once all necessary information is obtained, the application will be mailed to the drug company who makes the medicine. Please be aware that all of your drugs are not with the same drug company and the time frame for each drug will vary. Your medicine will take from 3 to 12 weeks to arrive for pickup. You will be notified by letter when the medicine is ready for pickup. You will usually receive 3 months of medication at a time.
