Smoke-Free Campus FAQ
Chancellor's Memoranda 10 - Smoking Policy
As of July 1, 2010, LSUHSCS campus at all locations is "smoke free." All employees are requested to remind others that LSUHSCS buildings and grounds are "smoke free" and that E.A. Conway and Huey P. Long are "tobacco free."
Visitors, patients and employees should be told, in a polite and courteous manner, that smoking is not allowed on the premises. University Police will also be available to enforce the new policy in a courteous and polite manner.
Employees may request individuals to not smoke, but if person refuses to comply, please notify your supervisor or Human Resources with the employee's name or UPD if the person is a visitor. For employees, failure to comply with the new policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination. University Police will escort non-compliant visitors off the premises.
Thank you to all for your support and cooperation during this transition. We appreciate everyone's help in providing a healthy environment for our patients, visitors, students, and employees.
LSUHSCS, in collaboration with the Tobacco Control Initiative, has set up an in-house phone line to provide information on available resources for employees and patients. For further information, you can call Jennifer Green at 318.813.QUIT (7848).
